Compounding

A fundamental pharmaceutical practice of creating custom medications for patients whose prescriptions are not commercially available.

Not Every Patient Is the Same

Some patients require higher or lower doses, no fillers, or even topical medications in place of orals. Therefore at Curexa, we are a go-to partner for patients, medical and telemedicine providers, veterinary providers, and manufacturing partners, providing pharmaceutical compounding services that standard pharmacies typically cannot accommodate.

Types of Compounding

Countless therapeutic possibilities exist when medications can be customized to meet a patient’s unique needs. Our compounding services come in the following forms to help find the optimal strength and dosage for each patient.

Suppositories

A popular dosage form where the medication is designed to be delivered rectally to the patient. Our unique designs can facilitate simultaneous internal and external administration. This method is commonly formulated to treat hemorrhoids and other conditions.

Topical Formulations

Medication is administered topically and is often preferred by patients who are nauseated or have difficulty swallowing. This form can also negate the need for infusion therapy or injections. This is a popular compounding method for pets as well.

Troches

A type of lozenge that is placed between the cheek and gums to dissolve. By allowing the medication to be absorbed through the oral mucosa rather than the gastrointestinal tract, the drug takes effect faster as it is not being broken down by digestive enzymes or metabolized.

Creams and Ointments

These can include lip balms, sublingual sprays, and non-aerosol topical sprays. These medications are ideal for hard-to-reach areas of the body. Also, by applying them topically, it can reduce the risk of side effects since the drug is not absorbed systematically.

Capsules

The most common type of medication form. Patients can choose from a variety of colors and sizes to simplify dosing schedules. In addition, our capsules can be compounded to contain multiple compatible active ingredients to better solve medication problems.

We Create Compounded Medications For:

  • Unique dosage forms containing the best dose of medication for each individual.

  • Medications free of problem-causing excipients such as sugar, lactose, dyes, alcohol, gluten, or preservatives.
  • Combinations of various compatible medications into a single dosage form for easier administration and improved compliance.

  • Medications that are not commercially available.

  • Novel medication delivery systems.
